| Hogsmeade (6 sub-boards)
All the students in fifth year and above are entitled to visit Hogsmeade in their own time. It is popular with anoyone wanting to hang out, shop or just get off school premises for a bit. The fifth year students need a permission slip to be allowed out, but that doesn't stop the younger students from sometimes sneaking off after them.

| Diagon Alley (14 sub-boards)
Tapping just the right brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron in London ("Three up...two across...") will reveal an archway which is a portal into Diagon Alley, a long cobbled street where is to be found a strange and exciting assortment of shops and restaurants. It is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the British wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there.

| Knockturn Alley (4 sub-boards)
Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. Everything sold here is a bit dodgy and the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.

| Visitor's Entrance
A visitor to the Ministry of Magic comes to a broken-down red telephone box located on a dingy street which has several shabby offices, a pub, and a wall covered with graffitti. When the telephone in the box is dialed (62442, the word M-A-G-I-C), the welcome witch's voice answers, not from the phone but from the air as if the person is standing right there. Visitors must state their business, upon which a silver badge pops out with the visitor's name and purpose of visit. Then the telephone box drops down like a lift for about one minute, after which the visitor is in the Atrium.

| The Atrium
The Atrium is a large hall with fireplaces up and down both long walls. Down the left-hand side of the hall are gilded fireplaces which witches and wizards can use to arrive at the Ministry, while the right-hand side contains fire places used for departures. The dark wood polished floor sets off the sky-blue ceiling on which golden symbols drift to and fro. The Fountain of Magical Brethren lies halfway down the Atrium and visitors must register their wands before entering the rest of the Ministry.

| St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries (7 sub-boards)
Founded in late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonham, St. Mungo's Hospital is the primary wizarding hospital in Britain. Located in an abandoned department store in London, the hospital's Healers treat wizards for all sorts of magic-related illnesses and injuries, and in extreme circumstances has been known to treat Muggles as well. The hospital's logo is a wand and a bone, crossed, and donations are welcome.
The entrance to St. Mungo's is concealed behind an abandoned red-brick London department store called Purge and Dowse, Ltd. on a Muggle street. Unlike, say, the Leaky Cauldron, St. Mungo's is visible to passing Muggles, who merely believe the sign on the front that the store is "Closed for Refurbishment." In the front window, a dummy dressed in outdated styles serves as the gatekeeper; wizards wanting to enter do so by talking to the dummy, and then walking straight through the window.

| Grounds and Gardens
The enormous grounds of Hogwarts Castle are beautiful all year round. The castle is located atop a cliff overlooking a lake, which is to the south of the castle. There is a small underground inlet, it's entrance covered with hanging ivy, that leads to a stony beach below the castle at the base of the cliff. From here, a path leads up to the front door of the castle. A road runs around the lake to the village of Hogsmeade, where the railway station is located. The grounds are quite extensive, taking in the Forbidden Forest and a full sized Quidditch Pitch. The grounds also include the Groundskeeper's cabin, vegetable gardens and greenhouses as well as the lawns. The Whomping Willow stands proudly (if dangerously) off to one side of the castle.
